After the presentation was finished we focused on the research and design proposal document. Since I had already almost finished my blog and other people in the group had not, I decide that I would offer to write most of it. I began by breaking down the topics that were specified in the brief. These were break down of the brief/what they wanted, sources of inspiration/design stylings, evolution of the project, final design proposal/idea, evaluation of work.  Then a few days later I broke down the sections further, this was so we would have more specific sections so its easier to write for. These were: Break down of brief/research on HOME, What HOME wanted/needed, Research into climate crisis, Sources of inspiration, Style sheet, Idea evolution, What we did, How we did it, What we wanted to get out of this project, What we think of our work, How we worked together, Things we would change since the presentation, Blog links. When we watched them go up or down it made us realise how bad some of the issues are, this is since it puts the issue into reality and makes it easier to understand. We really liked these statistics and decided to build our idea around these statistics. We wanted to create a video that used these statistics along side some animations that we are going to create, this is since we want to make them our own as if we only show the statistics it's not really our work, and it isn't enough work for 12 weeks.

This was for the beginning of this blog, but Blogger deleted the post :( I decided to do some research into the climate crisis as I do not know that much about it and since it is such an important topic in todays culture as well as with this project, I wanted to do some more research and understand the topic more. This was for the beginning of this blog, but Blogger deleted the post :( When we visited HOME they said that their biggest issue that they want to tackle is how their visitors travel there, this is since whenever they did any surveys most of their visitors said they drove there, even though they are in the centre of town with plenty of different modes of public transport. However, generally there is little to nothing that we can do for this problem as they mentioned that they have already tried to collaborate with TFGM and it didn't work out well, and we could make a campaign for them for this but we think they have lots of other things we could focus on. One thing we noticed that they mentioned is that their main demographic currently is 30-40 year olds, but this seems quite small and whenever we spoke or asked people we knew about HOME they had never heard of them, the people I've asked have ranged from 19-38 which has some people within their demographic that didn't ...

I have decided since I have now done the presentation and finalised the prototype that I would think of somethings that I would change and improve since hearing HOME's feedback and how I personally feel about the finished product. The first thing I would change is the animations, I would remake them so they had more things happening, maybe remove the black background on the live statistics. I would honestly just make them look more professional, as they look very amateur at the moment. The next thing I would do is I would add some sound to the video, this sound could be optional so if the screens are in a public space it would be silent, but if it is in a small confined space where it is okay to have sound it could be played, this is because it was quite dull and empty feeling without the sound. The kinds of sounds I would have is like for each different animation sounds that go along with it, such as for the plastic in oceans have water and bubbles popping, or for air pollutio...

This was for the beginning of this blog, but Blogger deleted the post :( I put together a quick style sheet for our HOME project, this is just to help us ensure we're all using the same colours, fonts, and stylings for drawings and animations. I decided to do this as it is useful to show that we have thought about the stylings, and it will show the style for the research and design booklet without using any words. For the colour theme we used HOME's original colours, but added black and white. I added the 'drawing style' section as it helps us to stick with the stylings of the drawing. I also added the 'Shapes' section, as when I was working in industry we did not have this section on the style sheet and it really confused me and the marketing team as we did not know what style of shapes they wanted us to use. Also if we did not have this section, it could mean that there is inconsistencies in shapes over the prototype, such as if we use hexagons for one...

Today we did the presentation for HOME. My group went first, which is usually the worst time to do the presentation, this is because we hadn't seen the other groups to see how they spoke etc, as well as it make us all feel more nervous than if we had gone second or last. Overall, I think that the presentation went okay, we did not have too much confidence in our prototype which meant we weren't as enthusiastic as we could have been. Also since we spent so much time making the prototype and not rehearsing the presentation, I noticed some things that seemed to be wrong with the presentation, such as the drawings should have been sooner in the presentation, there was no sound when we showed the video which meant it was quite awkward as nobody was talking through the presentation too. Also, as we did not have enough time to rehearse the presentation it meant that we did not know who was going to speak for which pages, so for some slides we all leaned back onto Glenn to speak, I s...

For the presentation I am going to have two slides each to show my research and drawings for the two animations I drew for. I am also going to have a slide that shows and explains what we would do for the future of this project, and where we would go with it. On the slides for the drawings I wanted to show a few images of research, so I took a screenshot of my google search, as this is how I actually found all my inspiration for the drawings. I then drew a small mind map to show my idea process and how I chose what to draw. I then added the drawings at the bottom to show the final result of my research. For the future ideas page, I began by thinking what we could do/what I would do if we had more time on this project. My ideas were to improve upon the animations, make them more interactive, and to put them in different places around the city/country. I feel like I'm having some issues with this brief. I think this is because it is a very difficult topic, and I'm not entirely sure with what HOME even wants from us. All last year and for our app brief this year we have been taught that to design something we need to be solving a problem, otherwise it would be fine art. However, with this brief there seemingly is no problem that we would be able to solve, as there is no way of us to solve the whole climate crisis. On top of this HOME are already doing the most that they can at this given time, which makes it very difficult for us to even come up with a concept for this brief. When I spoke to Juan and mentioned that we were having issues with this brief, he said that it is meant to be arty and get us out of the comfort zone of commercial work.
