Meeting 27/11/2019 New idea

This week we had a small team meeting with Mike to have a look at what we've done so far and to have him be able to track our process. However, Mike yet again did not like our idea and told us to change the idea again, A WEEK BEFORE THE DEADLINE. Instead of each doing animations we are going to split it so each person has more of a task with the video, this is so that the drawings match more and it looks more like a cohesive video. We decided that me and Sophie K would do all the drawings, as we like to draw and have similar styles. Emily is going to be doing the animations, this is since she did motion videos at college and she wanted to do this. Glenn is doing the 3D visuals, this is because it is his strong suit, and that's what he wanted to do for the project. Charlotte left right after the meeting for rugby and did not come back until 3pm. She did not decide upon what she wanted to do, and said that she didn't have anything that she particularly wanted to do. There...

Meeting 20/11/2019 (New idea)

Today we came up with a new idea for our prototype, since Mike was unhappy with what we decided upon. We decided with the issue of Charlotte and her not generally doing any work and it being mostly plagiarised. We decided it would be best to separate all the work, so that we don't get our work mixed in with her plagiarised work. Me, Glenn, Emily and Sophie K, decided upon this as Charlotte was not here, which she often is not. Our new idea is to each decide on an issue and create an animation for them. This would separate our work and what we do, so we would each have our own drawings and sections. I decided on doing household waste, Sophie K was doing plastic in the sea, Glenn is doing ice caps melting, Emily was doing air pollution, and Charlotte decided upon deforestation. We each decided upon what our animations were going to be, Sophie K was doing a turtle and plastic floating around, Glenn decided on doing visualisations to put the ice caps into perspective that we would ...

Meeting 19/11/2019 and video idea

Today we had a  small meeting with the home group, except Sophie K.We decided that since we only have one more lesson after tomorrow to do anything for the project, then it is the presentation. So we have decided that we are each going to be doing a small video to be shown on the screens, these videos can be anything we want them to be, so could be animation, time-lapse, etc.  We each decided on an issue that we thought that we could visualise. I chose Waste, this is due to the fact that I had an idea for this one and thought it would be quite easy.  Since we are on such a strict deadline we decided that we would have proof of concept tomorrow and any initial drawings etc, to show we are doing work. Then next week we will have our final videos, and that session would be spent making and painting the prototype for the presentation the following week.  My initial idea for the video was to empty out a bin onto the floor to show how much waste is produced...

Concerns about the group/Wednesday meeting thoughts

On Wednesday as it is wellbeing week, we decided as a group that we would come into uni to decide on things for the project, as it is getting closer to deadline and it feels as if we have little to no work done.  Last week we decided to set a task for us all to bring in on Wednesday, it was to have at least 10 sketches that we can use to decorate the boxes on our installation. I completed these drawings and have attached them at the bottom. When I got in everyone apart from Glenn had completed these drawings, and charlotte had only done 4 when we specified 10 minimum.  Charlotte also said something suspicious, she said ‘I only did the soap because I thought it was cute’ which when I’m drawing, I wouldn’t even think one of my drawings is going to be cute until I’ve done it. Also, the theme we were going for was climate change, recycling etc, and soap doesn’t exactly strike me as fitting with this theme.  She also sent us the illustrator file and it was laid ou...

Hexagonal box shapes

Since we are using cardboard boxes to create the installation, Sophie K suggested today that instead of just using regular boxes, they instead be hexagons. She said hexagons because they are part of a bee hive which fits with HOME and their bees, as well as our installation ideas. I decided to do some individual research into how to make a hexagon box. Here are some videos that I found on the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s0aQkFV2-U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gl0tKFWOWM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPiQxWLpWuw I also found some tutorials online: http://www.auntannie.com/BoxesBags/HexagonBox/ What you'll need: - White card/Bristol board - Scissors/craft knife - Ruler - Bone folder/empty ballpoint pen - Glue Step 1.  Choose the pattern and print it. Step 2. Cut the pattern on the black outline. Step 3. Score the marked up lines. Step 4. Fold the lids and flaps. Step 5. Fold sides and glue tabs. Step 6. Glue the sides down. Step 7. ...

Feelings on presentation

Today we did our first pitch ‘presentation’ to the client. Overall, I think that they liked many of the ideas that we came up with, especially so the ones that we were fonder of. Their favourite ideas were the story of home, and the carbon particles idea.  I felt that the presentation went well overall, and we all contributed. Except from Charlotte, who did not add anything to the presentation as well did not speak up to the clients. This is not the first time that this has happened as well. This happened last presentation, afterwards when asked about it she said that it was due to her confidence that she did not speak up in the pitch, however she also did not add to the actual slides which does not take confidence to do.

Presentation

To prepare for this presentation we each chose some slides to do, I decided to do the final idea that we came up with, and some character ideas. For the final idea page I made some mind maps to show our thought process simply. For the character ideas I drew some characters that I thought would look cute as their 'mascots' then made a logo idea for the new area, this was just to help people visualise the idea better. Here are some of the slides from the presentation.
